An absolutely fantastic surprise! Thai Gourmet Market specializes in health-conscious cuisine without sacrificing rich flavors. And for the record, they take "No MSG" very seriously.
The quaint dining area provided us with a very relaxed atmosphere to visit nirvana-esque taste buds. The green curry was cooked eloquently. The flavors were complex, rich, and hearty. But the ginger slaw, which was served as a side, was the kicker. After a few slurps of curry, I'd cleanse my palette with this crisp and fresh complement.
The service was excellent. Our server was kind, friendly and hilarious. She even let us leave our leftovers with them as we explored Tampa for the day. Hospitality at its finest. Prepare to be swept off your feet!Helpful 3Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0Business owner information

Health food that is delicious.
Oh my Yelpers, how much I rely on you to tell me what is awesome and what is not. But, what happens when a business changes their entire menu! Where was my banner saying HALT, ALL THE REVIEWS ARE ABOUT DISHES THAT NO LONGER EXIST? All the food pictures I drooled over are no longer accurate. Should you storm out in protest? NO, because the food is still RIDICULOUSLY GOOD.
One thing that is the same is the people that work here. I actually recognized the employee by Yelp pictures (creeper alert, I know). We chatted a bit about what prompted the change to the menu. It was actually you, dear Yelpers (well maybe not you specifically, but the feedback giving community who needed a quicker lunch). It turns out that they needed faster dishes so professionals can make it in and out during their lunch break. Bring in the build your own noodle dish.
You choose your base noodles, vegetables, protein, and broth (if you want a soup; you have the option of no broth, which is what I did). They whip it up and voila, instant meal. There are a couple things that stand out about this meal.
1. It's fast! It literally took less than five minutes for them to make the dish. Your lunch break consists mainly of how long it takes you to eat it.
2. It's healthy! You see everything that goes into the meal! I got sweet potato noodles, tofu, kale, bean sprouts, cilantro, and cabbage. Plus their seasoning sauce and you have yourself a super healthy dish. My waistline thanks you.
3. It's huge! The bowl was about the size of my head. I looked at it and immediately thought I'm going to have to power through because I wasn't going home after to take leftovers. I still wasn't hungry by dinner.
4. It's delicious! The sweet potato noodles were chewy and seasoned perfectly. I even loved the kale! (Honestly, sometimes I force myself to eat kale because I know it is good for me. Here, I actually enjoyed it).
Literally, what more than those four things do you want in a meal? At $12 it's an amazing deal.
Even though it is small with a tiny parking lot, it wasn't an issue at all, because there was barely anyone there. It's shocking and a little disappointing, because I think they deserve all the love.
Obviously, you won't get a ton of choices, since it's a build your own noodle dish, but I didn't feel stifled at all since the meal was delicious. If you are in the area, you are missing out if you aren't eating here.Helpful 4Thanks 0Love this 2Oh no 0 - Feb 4, 2015
Following Melinda M., I have to check this restaurant. My wife and I have joined Nick S. in the restaurant and try variety of the menu has to offer. This is a restaurant that next to the market. It has cute interior decoration. The restaurant is close at 8 pm which mean we have to get to the restaurant before 6:30 pm.
We have order two appetizers and 3 main entrees. The first appetizer is the chicken satay. Although the satay is not on the skewer but it have the typical yellow ginger spice for the seasoning. The peanut sauce is sweet instead of mild hot for the dipping. The chicken is well grilled and not dry out the meat. The second appetizer is the dumpling. The dumpling in Chinese is sui mei. The pork dumpling is usually three part components of ground pork, ground or mince shrimp and mince water chest nut. This restaurant serves with two part shrimp and ground pork over slice ginger. You have to eat it with the ginger overlay the dumpling and increase the sophisticate of the taste which this restaurant has provided.
The first main dish is the Tom Yum with mince and slice pork noodle soup. I have asked for the Thai hot. I can see Nick need a lot of water after he has the dish. I have my head sweat flowing while I am eating. It is sweat good. The mince pork prepare correctly with seasoning ground pork. The second dish is the pad thai. The dish is served with peanut sauce and three jumbo shrimps. The price of this dish is in the high side, however, the three jumbo shrimps make up for the price. This dish is OK. The third dish is the pan seared sea bass. This dish come with fillet sea bass over the soy sauce and accompany with the black bean rice. The sea bass is seared but a little dry. However, it is well season.
Overall our experience is great. The service is a bit slow. However, after all other customers left, we were served in full attention. Tonight, we did not have a chance to try the lemongrass crème brule since they don't have it. This may be the item to try next time.Helpful 4Thanks 0Love this 2Oh no 0 - Jan 24, 2017
We decided to check this place out for my monthly lunch with bffs, and it was a good pick! Be sure to check in for your free Thai iced tea. The menu has pictures of all the basic dishes, and you pick the protein. The pictures here are worth a thousand words, so to speak, because there are no descriptions on the menu, but when you look around at the food on nearby tables, you know no matter what you pick, it's going to be good, and it was. I ordered the Lamb Pad See Ehw and my other two friends ordered the Tom Yum Baan Baan Soup with noodles. The lamb dish was very tasty, the meat plentiful, the green vegetables cooked just right, some fried egg in there too, and the 'Thai hot' temp was perfect. I tasted the soup, and the broth had a wonderful complexity, as the Thai's always do so well. Our server was pleasant and efficient as well. A very enjoyable lunch indeed.

The Basil Chicken and Blue Crab Dumplings alone are well worth a visit to Thai Gourmet Market, this was the perfect dish, just make sure to get it hot and yes pay a little extra and add the egg, without the egg you gotta deduct at least half a star, it compliments the dish so well and it's cooked to perfection. Don't forget the dumplings, the blue crab was just special.
I'm not used to getting black rice when eating Thai food, not sure if it's optional or not, but it was a pleasant surprise, black rice is rare, you don't see it enough in restaurant menus which is unfortunate. It's not only delicious but it's better for your health. so this was an added bonus IMO.
Wifey ordered the red curry lamb, didn't find it to be as good as the Basil Chicken, couldn't really taste the lamb like I wanted to, but still a solid option. The curry sauce was excellent, FYI-(they sell both the green and red curry sauce at the restaurant along with local honey)
I didn't dine in on this particular evening, but if I have to critique the establishment, I'd say it's a bit on the small side, I can see parking being a real issue during regular traffic. There's not much curb appeal, had it not been for Yelp I'd probably ride by and not realize it's there, that's the honest truth, but these things are pretty minimal in my eyes. They could also use a take out menu, just saying...
Great experience overall, not sure I'd recommend dining in, but certainly ideal for take out, glad to find a good Thai joint in the area, I wish Thai Gourmet Market much success.Helpful 4Thanks 0Love this 4Oh no 0Business owner information

Went here for dinner and got 3 things. ALL were VERY GOOD and FLAVORFUL!
Dumplings- These come smothered in fresh ginger, onions, and cilantro. There is also a soy based dipping sauce. This is soooo freaking good. Lots of fresh flavors and ... just do it.. just get it!
Drunken Noodles- I got them with shrimp. It came with 4 big shrimp and I also added a fried egg for $1.95. Very good flavor. I asked for medium spice and it wasn't spicy at all. Good thing there's 4 different spices to add to my food!!!
Kui Tiew Tom Yum Pork Noodle Soup- SOO goood!! The broth is so different than any other soup broth I've had before, its very fragrant and delicious! LOVEE!!Helpful 3Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0Business owner information

This is sad to say, but I was not impressed at all! I was super excited about having some pad Thai from here and I even drove further out to get some food.
Me no likey?!?
I saw the reviews and had to take a trip out here...
Sad to say, I'm not coming back, not because staff wasn't friendly, but the food was not great. It was not even alright. If I had known, I would've made me some of my own. I do cook delicious food you know?
I guess sometimes the reviews are made of rose-colored glass and I couldn't see through the beauty? I wish that I could sugar-it-up! My lovely friend also concurred that it was not yummayyy. This is a thumbs down place for me....and her..as well as my kiddos...I'm saddened by this.Helpful 5Thanks 0Love this 3Oh no 0Business owner information

Hi Jenny,
Thanks for your review, we are sorry you thought the food was "not great"-keen to understand what exactly was wrong with your meal?
Did you mention this to your server?
We would be happy to comp your meal to try again? - Tony N.Tampa, FL1073811613May 15, 2016
Curries come out with rice on a plate, small bowl of curry, and small bowl of mixed veggies.
We got the Red Curry and Panang Curry. Both good portion sizes, the panang was sweeter than the red curry and not as spicy. Waitress didn't ask us what spiciness level we wanted, so I assumed everything would be mild, but the Red Curry came out about medium spicy, which was ok, I sweated a little bit but I think it made the dish better.
Hisbiscus tea - this was too sweet, and taste suspiciously like prune juice. if you get this, suggest you also get separate water glass to dilute it
Fast and friendly service. Decent prices.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Jon M.San Diego, CA974160Jan 30, 2016
Food is very very well cooked. Got the seabass, lamb panang curry, coconut soup (Tom Kha), and lemongrass creme brulee. Seabass was well cooked. Crispy pan fried outside and soft and flaky in the middle. Lamb curry and soup had great flavor, it just wasn't like authentic Thai food I've had in Thailand and California. This is more of a "fusion" Thai restaurant, than a "traditional" one.
But nevertheless, I would be definitely coming back.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0Business owner information
