Now Sandshakers Restaurant. Same great chef who was with Nancy's. Great fish spread and looking forward to having dinner/ lunch there.

This is how finding a hidden treasure feels- Nauti- Nancy's is purely a yelp discovery. The ambiance is divey and the atmosphere is homey where everyone knows everyone!
I got the shrimp and grits and DH got the blackened catfish. Both dishes were superb. We sat in a refurbished garage with a big TV. Prices were reasonable and portions big. We got complimentary beignets as a sweet finish to a fantastic meal.

We found this place on Yelp and saw the excellent reviews. A quick drive by gave me the "heebee jeebees". It looks like a total dive. I expected old men hunkered over their beers discussing the good ole days.
Let me just say: WOW! Looks can be deceiving. A stingy-haired server greeted us, and I knew right away, this is going to be good.
Our meal was delicious. My Po boy shrimp sandwich was fantastic.
Wife reported her burger was juicy, tasty and well-prepared. This place is a gem in a sketchy neighborhood. Nancy: You DO know how to cook! Oh, and the Beignets were fantastic! Free too.Helpful 3Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - May 31, 2016
I brought my outta town guests here to have a cool laid back lunch. It turned out to be a turn off more than anything!
We ordered a shrimp Po boy and oyster Po boy and split them. We also ordered sweet potato fries and onion rings which were extra. No side included with each sandwich. We also ordered a cheeseburger with barely any cheese. All were not good and all tasted like the same grease that it was wading in. There was no other flavor. The Po boys came with lots of mayo and cheese. No other flavor could make it stand out whatsoever. The burger had cheese you couldn't see.
At the end, they brought beignets. They were the best of them all but by that time we were turned off by our lunch.
Flies swarmed only us. Why was that? Was that from the kitchen perhaps. I have no idea!
I was hoping this would be a great experience for all of us. We went straight to get ice cream to get rid of the taste of reused grease.Helpful 8Thanks 0Love this 9Oh no 0 - Apr 16, 2016
Nauti Nancy's is a local seafood bar restaurant that's off the beaten path and a hole in the wall, but worth the visit for the nice selection of food.
There are specials that change daily along with live music outside in the back, and seating is usually not a problem despite the small interior bar area. Outside is much roomier and there was even a special party being held when I visited.
Service is friendly and my server Monica was attentive to my table. I ordered the Manhattan scallops special, and received my dish rather quickly. The scallops were small, but the linguine in a Manhattan clam chowder was delicious. The pasta was cooked perfectly, and the chowder acting like sauce paired nicely.
Monica asked if we wanted dessert, and we initially declined. Monica said that beignets were free so how could we resist? I actually never had them before but they were powdery sugar goodness. One of them was a bit under fried leaving one a bit gooey, but I hear these little delights are deceptively hard to make. Plus these were free and these were my first so I didn't really know.
All in all, this is a must try and we'd be glad to come back. If it's good enough for the locals, then you know this is good.Helpful 3Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Jun 10, 2018
Nauti-Nancy's is the closest I've ever come to a place like Cheers. My fiance and I arrived and had a seat. We were immediately greeted by our server. I ordered the fried shrimp and my fiance had the shrimp and grits. While we waited my fiance and I people watched and everyone at the bar seemed to know each other - they hugged, laughed and joked with each other as they shared a pitcher of beer. Then, one of the employees walked up to us and jokingly said to my fiance, "you know she's wayyy prettier than you, right?" We laughed it off and he returned later to tell us a joke.
We got our meals and everything was delicious. I'm not necessarily a Shrimp and Grits fan, but I was head over heels for my fiance's meal - I could (but didnt) lick the bowl. After our meal, we were served complimentary beignets which were equally delicious. Before we left, our waitress asked us to stop by again. While the food at Nauti-Nancy's is definitely delicious, they owners and employees have managed to create a down-home feeling of warmth and family, which I thoroughly appreciated.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 2Oh no 0 - May 31, 2015
This review is based on food, service, cleanliness, and general atmosphere.
The food is great! We started off with soup, then I had a burger, and finished off with some complimentary donut holes covered in powdered sugar. The burger was absolutely amazing. It was juicy, and bursting with flavor. If this review was on food alone, I would be giving it 5 stars.
We started out in the back, but it was just too hot, and too much cigarette smoke. We moved inside, but it wasn't much cooler. We almost left because of the temperature inside. I was literally sweating in my food.
The service outside wasn't very good, but when we moved inside the gentleman was very friendly and helpful. Super glad we moved inside, I just wish they had air conditioning.
The building appears old, and is in desperate need for an update. I think they do a pretty decent job of keeping it clean, but I'm a fan of "out with the old and in with the new". Just my personal opinion.
I have mixed feelings about the overall atmosphere. It's located in a not so nice area. The heat was really wearing me down. If I could give it a 3.5 star rating, I would.
Overall, I recommend going for the food, checking it out, and sharing your own experience.Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 2Oh no 0 - Tom D.Dunedin, Tampa Bay, FL1393371265Mar 22, 2017
I would come here for drinks, entertainment and possibly oysters or shrimp, something you don't mind getting your hands dirty with. I will not come back to have a hot dinner or with people I am hoping to converse with.
My parents were in town and they made reservations for 6:30 outside as they were told there was an acoustic performed (literally four hours before). They are in town to look for a condo so we were going to have dinner to discuss what they saw so far. Well it was amplified open mic night. It was loud, extremely loud so a conversation was not possible without yelling and leaning into the person you were listening to.
Service was average. Took about 15 minutes to get a drink order and get our drinks. They were busy but perhaps a bit understaffed. Our reserved table had random locals sitting at it with their food because I guess you can just ignore the reserved sign and they won't bother you. The problem is they left a mess and the table did not get wiped down properly, so we did it ourselves.
The food was average. Shrimp and grits were decently unique but nothing I would crave. The portion of catfish was average but providing about 9 fries with it is a joke. Tells me they had some left over and didn't want to fry more. They also only carry tilapia on their regular menu for fish. You are less than a mile from the Gulf and you serve tilapia. I think I'll end it there.Helpful 6Thanks 0Love this 3Oh no 0 - Samantha L.Tampa, FL0916May 6, 2018
The food was AWESOME!
Beef Martini sandwich: The gravy really made the dish and the steak was so tender and cooked perfectly. There's bacon in it and portobello mushrooms and the bread is super light and airy.
Shrimp po boy: Also very delicious. My dad, especially, loved it! The bread was light and airy (same bread was used for the beef Martini), shrimp tasted fresh and was perfectly seasoned and fried to perfection.
Seafood omellete: was also delicious! I wouldn't recommend if you dont like the strong seafood flavor. But the side of potato's was't that great. I wish they had seasoning and actually, it was described as home fries so it was a bot of a surprise to see diced potatoes that tasted more like it was steamed then seared on a pan...weird...but the main dish was very good so we didn't care too much about it.
Beignets: these were really hard which, if you know beignets, are supposed to be pretty light and airy since it's main ingredient is choux pastry, but the consistency was like a day old french bread but it was complimentary with out meal so . I mean, it wasn't disgusting just hard to eat. .Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0
