Q:
Looking for a place to watch Ohio State Football Game against that other team. Is this a good place to watch it on Saturday?
A:
Definitely , you can tell they love sports here there are tables in the back with dedicated tvs with remotes I believe 😳. And a TV is visible from pretty much every seat.

Is the name in reference to the band Deftones' song?
A:
I highly doubt it. It is a busy place with great burgers. If you go to their website it says the following: Engine n°9 is a prime burger sports bar in the heart of St… more

Great little neighborhood spot with an awesome menu, most notably with several gourmet burgers and available toppings. It was nighttime and I sat at the bar, was greeted and served quickly and the bartender was super friendly. I'd never been there before as I was on vacation to attend the Firestone St Petersburg Grand Prix and was looking to venture out of the downtown area to get away from the crowds. I prefer to dine with the locals when traveling. I ordered a beer and a Black Flag burger with fries because I love spicy food and it fit the bill perfectly.
The beer was served exactly as I like it, FREEZING cold and my burger arrived quickly. It was cooked to a perfect medium temperature as I requested and it was DELICIOUS!
I'd highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a cool neighborhood bar and burger restaurant.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Apr 23, 2024
Great spot to grab a burger and/or brew! Server was very helpful and friendly and the ambiance was just right for what we were going for - chill but still some energy. Just the right volume of background noise to not feel too dead or too rowdy. Lots of TV's. Our drinks and bacon cheeseburger with curly fries were great. The wings coming out of the kitchen looked really good too.
Our drinks came out super quick. Our burger was a bit slow to come out and we were starting to think it might have been forgotten when we saw it coming our way and inhaled it in about 10 seconds. If you're really hungry like we were, I'd recommend putting your food in as soon as you can - maybe before your drinks! But it wasn't a big issue at all and I would definitely come back and recommend Engine No 9 to anyone looking for a good burger and beer spot :)Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Apr 23, 20241 check-in
Intro: I stopped by Engine No. 9 for dinner and drinks with my buddy and his lady friend on a Friday evening. It was within walking distance from my hotel so I didn't pay attention to the parking situation. March Madness was happening while I was there so it was packed.
Ambiance (3.5/5): Engine No 9 is a sports bar. The bar is U-shaped and there is bar stool seating at the bar. This is where we ended up sitting. There was a short wait when we arrived for seating at the bar. They also have tables at the edges of the restaurant. Engine No 9 is pretty narrow so it can get congested when it's busy as it was while we were there. And because the bar is U-shaped, depending on where you're sitting at the bar, you might not have a great view of the TVs. There are plenty of them, which is what you want at a sports bar, but there are some logistical challenges. Also, since I'm an old man, I appreciate when bar seating has some back support. They don't here.
Food (4.5/5): I went with The Heart Attack Burger because I'm a fat kid at heart. Whenever I see an egg on a burger and multiple strips of bacon, it's a no-brainer in my book. They are known for their burgers at Engine No 9 and have an extensive selection. With your burger, you have the choice of regular fries, tater tots, or curly fries. I always appreciate options. I went with the curly fries (my friends went with the tots and regular fries). They remarked that I made the best selection after tasting the curly fries. I concurred.
Drinks (4.5/5): They have an extensive beer list which is exactly what I look for at sports bars. They even had Delirium Tremens, my favorite beer and one that you don't find at most bars. Two thumbs up!
Service (3.5/5): They were busy so the service was a bit slow. We had to flag down the bartender a few times. A bit understaffed for the number of people that were there which led to service that was friendly, but a little slow.
Overall: When it comes to sports bars, I look for a couple of things: good food (better than standard pub fare), affordable drinks, an extensive beer list, comfortable season, lots of TVs, the sound on for games, and comfortable seating. Engine No 9 does many of these things right.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Mar 28, 2024
We ended up here because it was late on a Wednesday night and we happened to see it was open
It's on a side road in downtown st. Petersburg and not too flashy but bigger inside than it looks
They have a small front room/bar area and additional seating in a back room where each table has its own TV
The pacing here was very slow but the server was friendly & the food ended up being great so just plan for a long visit. From arrival to food was about 45 mins with food taking maybe 15 mins of that and then another 45 mins before we got the check. She did check us out quickly though once we gave her our card
I got the bokor and it was delicious! The sauce is tangy and the bacon is soo good, just a little spicy! The brisket was ok but very fatty cut. The curly fries were great - like Arby's fries in color and texture. The bun was very buttery and looked so round, I was surprised haha
My husband got the one bad pig and he loved it. He ordered his medium so I didn't end up trying it since this pregnant lady has to be safe than sorry
Their menu has crazy burgers with all kinds of toppings from muenster cheese, cheese curds, jalapeno bacon, crawfish, fried chicken patty (on the beef burger yes), etc.
Parking in downtown is a hope for the best. They have 2 hour street parking so if it's not crowded, you should have no trouble. If it's crowded, I think there's a deck somewhere.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Mar 15, 2024
If you're searching for a laid-back spot with decent burgers, look no further than engine 9. Nestled in DTSP, this casual gem exudes a cozy ambiance perfect for unwinding with friends or grabbing a quick bite.
Now, let's talk burgers. It serves up a tantalizing array of options sure to satisfy any craving. From classic cheeseburgers to inventive creations they are all pretty good.
Cons include: terrible ranch and only beer and wineHelpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Mar 1, 20241 check-in
Was out of town for a kids' event at the Tropicana and found this place after one of the kids asked for a burger. The reviews said they were the best and I would agree that this is one of the best burgers that I have ever had. It was cooked perfectly and had the perfect about of flavor and grease. We selected the Demi-God burger with grilled onions and mushrooms. I would definitely come back for burgers here when I am back in town.
I also shared the No 9 dog. It was grilled perfectly as well and is a larger dog so for those that want to be full this would fill you up for sure.
The kids had a plain burger and hot dog and both said it was delicious.
Plus the other pieces is the service was amazing and the food came out faster then we could have ever imagined. It was a casual dining with super fast amazing food. You need to stop in and get some amazing food!!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - St.PeteFoodReview ..St. Petersburg, FL6943062424Mar 9, 20242 check-ins
Great burgers and food. Amazing draft selection. Even more of an amazing beer selection in bottles and cans.
Grab a pint and some hot Sriracha wings, or one of their many terrific burgers options. We went for the black flag burger cooked medium with fries. It has some crispy delicious bacon, roasted red peppers, and Frank's Red Hot â„¢ sauce on it!
Large casual restaurant and bar, classy clean and upscale.
Service always on point. QR code gives you a regularly-updated draft menu.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Mar 5, 2024

Best Burgers in St. Pete! I had the duck wings and wow they are dang on delicious. I also had the Demi God burger and yesssss it was cooked perfectly. My waitress was sweet. The ambience is like a small diner. It's not a lot of room and I witnessed a lot of people turn away because there was no seating or no tables. It gets super busy around lunchtime so be prepared to wait or come early. They probably should expand because it seems like they're very popular. Other than that I will be back.
